About me
We are a German-American family of 4 living in a suburb of Hamburg: Sören (dad), Rose (mom), Alexandra (18), Freyja (1). Our newest addition is coming March 2020.
We are an active family and enjoy getting outdoors, hiking, biking, sailing, jogging, gardening, standard ballroom dancing, dinners/cookouts/game nights with friends/family, visiting museums & nature preserves, and traveling to new places.
We are looking for someone who is active and enjoys working with young children. You should be interested in improving your German. A driver's license is not necessary. We have an extra bike for you to use.
We offer the standard terms for an au pair in Germany - monthly pocket money (€260), monthly contribution to German classes (€50), transportation costs for class (€50), insurance (€40), plus at least 4 weeks of vacation and all German holidays (Hamburg) off. There are no early mornings, evenings or weekends required. That means you have every evening and weekend free!
Your duties would be initially looking after Freyja (born April 2018) from approximately 11:00-17:00 during the week while Rose is working in her office downstairs. Once our baby arrives at the end of March, you would support Rose during her maternity leave.
We have lots of experience hosting young people. Rose hosted 8 exchange students in the US, and a year ago we hosted a Belgian while Alex was in Slovakia for an exchange year. Rose has also volunteered for 10+ years as a mentor/counselor for exchange students and now trains other mentors/volunteers. We have also had two au pairs. Cultural exchange is very important to us, and each of our exchange students and au pairs have been treated as a family member
